Question by Rum and Coke, Baby!!: Is it possible to recreate multiple multiple sclerosis like they do in mice?
I am curious to know if it is possible to take a healthy human and manipulate their DNA or whatnot in order for them to exhibit symptoms that occur when a human has multiple sclerosis?

I am interested in knowing if this type of experiment can be conducted since many animal tests seem to ultimately fail in the human stages and it would be nice to be able to experiment on the “worst of the worst” prisoners which drain society of financial and human resources and at the same time be able to derive the benefit of being able to help people who have MS and their families.

No, it is not. First off, it is illegal to experiment in such an inhumane way on any human being and that includes prisoners. Secondly, no one knows what causes MS. Researchers don’t know what genes are involved that make people predisposed to immune system diseases. Even if they knew, there are other as yet unknown agents that cause the MS to develop once a person is genetically predisposed to getting it.

Researchers do not create multiple sclerosis in mice. All they can do is get the mice to develop a disease that is similar to MS.
