CCSVI – Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Surgery

Chronic Cerebro-Spinal Venous Insufficiency (CCSVI) Is A Syndrome Associated With A Blockage Restricting The Blood Flow From The Central Nervous System (CNS), Through The Cervical And Thorac Veins. In Layman’s Terms This Is When The Blood Supply From The Brain And Spine Has Trouble Returning To The Heart. It Is Suggested That This Blockage Is Due To Stenosis Of The Jugular And Azygos Veins. Dr Paolo Zamboni, Identified And Labeled The CCSVI Syndrome And Has Linked It To To Multiple Sclerosis (MS)…

Chronic Cerebro-Spinal Venous Insufficiency (CCSVI)

Diagnosing CCSVI And It’s Subsequent Unblocking Seems To Be The Only Logical Way Forward. This Needs To Be Done Now. The Connection Of CCSVI And MS Can Be Worked Out In Time. MS Is A Degenerative Disease And Does Not Wait For Time. The Screening And Treatment Should Not Be Delayed Any More……..

Fix The Known Blockage. If It Is Found, We Know It Shouldn’t Be There So Just Remove The Blockage. This Blockage Is Connected To MS Because There Is A High Level Found In MS Patients. Why Don’t We Just Test All 2.5 Million Of The MS Sufferers And Treat All With The Blockage? Who Knows? If We Go On The Current Evidence We Will Save Billions Of Dollars On Medications That Only Have A Slowing Down Effect…

Economic Impact Of A Simple MS Treatment

The Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Market Has Estimated Revenues In Excess Of Eight Billion Dollars. The News Of This Simple But Revolutionary Approach Has The MS Drug Industry On Edge. The Financial Implications Imply Not Everyone Will Benefit, If Dr. Zamboni’s Breakthrough Proves To Be Key To Eradicating MS..

Symptoms and Possible Consequences

CCSVI causes a high sensitivity and specifically separates healthy people from MS sufferers. Current studies suggest that a subtype of MS sufferers have CCSVI present. The the liberation process attempts to remove a blockage in blood vessels leading to the brain. These blockages cause a build up of iron in the brain, which trigger autoimmunity and degeneration of the nerve’s myelin sheath. Treatments for MS have been proposed and tested on a small groups of patients. Below are some known possible symptoms, and consequences of the treatment.

Hypoxia

Hypoxia is a pathological condition in where a region of the body is deprived of adequate oxygen supply. A common result of hypoxia is fatigue and possible unconsciousness..

Delayed PerfusionThis may cause a delay in the nutritive delivery of arterial blood to the capillary bed..

Reduced Drainage of the CatabolitesCatabolites is a substance created during the process of catabolism. This process breaks down molecules down into smaller units and then releases energy..

Iron Deposits Around the Cerebral Veins These are iron deposits trapped in the brain. Every Surgical Procedure Has It’s Dangers, BUT…

The Liberation Technique

Treatment An experimental procedure known as the ‘The Liberation Treatment’ is a cutting-edge, scientific breakthrough made by Dr Paolo Zamboni of Italy, inspired by the love of his wife Elana. It is proposed that this process may help alleviate many of the symptoms associated with Multiple Sclerosis. Dr Zamboni had a theory that there could be a condition where the veins draining from the brain were either malformed or blocked, and that it was an underlying cause of MS. He labeled it chronic cerebrospinal venous insufficiency (CCSVI). This unique view has rocked mainstream thinking to its core. Until this discovery MS was described as an autoimmune condition, where the immune system attacks myelin, a fatty substance coating the nerve cells. Dr Zamboni noticed that 90% of MS patients had a blockage or malformation in the veins which drain the blood from the brain, that this leads to a dangerous build up of iron in the brain, causing the neurological symptoms associated with MS….

Vitamin D Max may play a role in the prevention and/or treatment of most health conditions.

Posted by admin Comments (0)

Vitamin D Max may play a role in the prevention and/or treatment of most health conditions.

  • Laboratory, animal, and epidemiologic evidence suggest that vitamin D may be protective against some cancers. Clinical studies now show vitamin D deficiency to be associated with four of the most common cancers.
  • It is well established that vitamin D acts as an effective regulator of cell growth and differentiation in a number of different cell types, including cancer cells. Through this action, Vitamin D behaves as a protective factor which decreases the risk of getting cancer.
  • Vitamin D may also go beyond cancer prevention and provide tumor therapy. Much ado has been made of pharmaceutical angiogenesis inhibitors agents that help inhibit the growth of new, undesirable blood vessels that tumors require for nutrient supply and growth. Laboratory tests have shown vitamin D to be a potent angiogenesis inhibitor.
  • Vitamin D deficiency has been linked with obesity. Vitamin D has recently been shown to lower leptin secretion. Leptin is a hormone produced by fat cells and is involved in weight regulation. It is thought that the hormone signals the brain when fat cells are “full,” but exactly how the hormone controls weight is not entirely clear.
  • Infertility is associated with low vitamin D, and PMS has been completely reversed by addition of calcium, magnesium and vitamin D and activated vitamin D in the adrenal gland regulates tyrosine hydroxylase, the rate limiting enzyme necessary for the production of dopamine, epinephrine and norepinephrine. Also, low vitamin D may contribute to chronic fatigue and depression. Seasonal Affective Disorder has been treated successfully with vitamin D.

Vitamin D (cholecalciferol) is a pre-hormone that has long been known for its important role in regulating body levels of calcium and phosphorus, and in mineralization of bone.Vitamin D is metabolized into a potent steroid hormone called calcitriol, More recently, it has become clear that receptors for calcitriol, are present in a wide variety of cells, and that calcitriol, has biologic effects which extend far beyond control of mineral metabolism. It is believed that vitamin D and its metabolite

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Drugs and Biologics Market Outlook

Posted by admin Comments (0)

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Drugs and Biologics: Technologies and Global Markets

The study offers an overview of the Multiple Sclerosis disease-modifying product market, including regulatory issues, and accompanied by detailed analyses and forecasts by product. MS is an autoimmune disease characterized by the body’s own immune system attacking itself and causing spots of demyelination (plaques) in the brain and spinal cord. Symptoms of MS vary widely depending on the severity of the disease and which nerve cells are attacked. Today there are currently eight disease-modifying therapies for MS approved throughout the world. Biologics represent the largest class of MS disease-modifying therapies by sales and by number of approved therapies accounting for six out of the eight approved MS disease-modifying products (Avonex, Betaseron, CinnoVex, Extavia, Rebif, and Tysabri). Of these biologics, five are beta interferon products. All of these approved MS agents are able to slow down the progression of the disease but none can reverse any nerve damage that occurs due to demyelination. ( http://www.bharatbook.com/detail.asp?id=152283&rt=Multiple-Sclerosis-MSDrugs-and-Biologics-Technologies-and-Global-Markets.html )

For each drug or biologic for MS on the market, all agents for MS in mid-to-late stages of clinical development, and some in earlier stages of development we have examined where these compounds stand in the development process, the major challenges to their regulatory approval or market success, their competitive profile, and, if applicable, their projected sales through 2015.

We were particularly interested in profiling small molecule drugs, therapeutic vaccines and other biologics targeting MS that are in Phase II or III clinical studies or those with unique mechanisms of action in earlier stages of development. We identify the leading MS treatments by formulation, by mechanism of action, and by geographic location. In some cases, we discuss notable compounds that failed in clinical testing, such as Roche and Biogen Idec’s Rituxan (rituximab), or that were pulled from the market due to adverse event or other issues. We also discuss the potential of some compounds that are being tested for other inflammatory or autoimmune disorders that could in the future potentially be tested as a treatment for or used off-label for MS.

Disease-modifying agents to treat MS are currently one of the largest classes of pharmaceutical products by sales in the U.S. and throughout the world. Sales of these agents for MS have grown from less than billion worldwide in 1999 to more than billion in 2009. A period of dynamic growth in the MS disease-modifying product market is expected to continue with seven new agents with unique mechanisms of action or new formulations entering the market between 2010 and the end of 2015. Longer-acting formulations of existing MS products are also expected to have a positive effect on the market as well.

New approaches to treating MS are being pursued by pharmaceutical and biotech companies as many of them look to move beyond agents such as the interferons that primarily slow the progression of MS. These potential new disease-modifying agents with novel mechanisms of action or improved delivery systems will provide powerful new options for patients failing or intolerable to the currently prescribed treatments for MS.

Consequences of Myelin Destruction in Multiple Sclerosis

Posted by admin Comments (0)

Multiple sclerosis is an inflammatory disease that primarily affects the brain and spinal cord (the central nervous system of the body – CNS). In later stages of the disease, multiple sclerosis can involve virtually any innervated section of the body (body parts which contain structures of agglomerated nerve terminations). By affecting the nerve fibers which have the role to transmit signals between the central nervous system and all the innervated organs, multiple sclerosis can cause a multitude of impairments at various levels of the body. When multiple sclerosis involves more parts of the body, the generated symptoms greatly vary in terms of type and intensity, rendering the process of diagnosing the disease very problematic.

Although the progression of multiple sclerosis can be efficiently controlled and its produced symptoms can be alleviated, the already existent damage can’t be reversed with medical treatments. Thus, the speed and accuracy of diagnosis play crucial roles in preventing the development of further complications and also increase the efficiency of the specific medication treatments.

All the undesirable effects produced by multiple sclerosis occur due to destruction of myelin, a substance that surrounds the cells of the nervous system. The main role of myelin is to facilitate the transmission of nerve signals at the level of central nervous system and between the CNS and all the other nerves spread throughout the body. Myelin also has the role to protect nerve cells, forming a coating that surrounds their surface. In most cases, the destruction of myelin characteristic to multiple sclerosis takes place fast and generates a wide range of dysfunctions of the nervous system. The process of myelin destruction is irreversible and most existing medical treatments can only slow down this process, being unable to stop it.

Due to the fact that multiple sclerosis can cause a multitude of dysfunctions in various sections of the body, the type, intensity and duration of symptoms differ from a patient to another. Patients with multiple sclerosis may experience numbness, tingling or pain in the muscles, muscular weakness and fatigue, muscular spasms, decreased visual acuity, blurred and double vision, frequent urination, constipation, decreased sexual function, poor balance, nausea, short-term memory loss, decreased judgment, poor concentration, and so on. The list of multiple sclerosis symptoms is very long and such manifestations may either occur together or separately, depending on the levels of the nervous system which are affected by the disease.

The good news is that patients with multiple sclerosis who receive the adequate medical treatment can regain control of their bodies and live active, normal lives. Although they can’t reverse the already existing nerve damage nor completely cure the disease, most multiple sclerosis treatments can substantially alleviate symptoms and prevent the occurrence of severe complications.
